Young and upcoming artist Xan the Kid gives his take on Dubai and how he expresses it through his music.
Being a young, multidisciplinary artist, Xan the Kid is well versed in Rapping, and also sings, and produces songs. Starting as young as the age of 9, Xan would write stories for fun and at the age of 12 he started writing poetry and spitting verses. He grew up with a pretty good understanding of music and its different genres; with his father being a DJ, Xan the kid uses music as a way to vent out his aggression as a teen-only being 17 years old. Reflecting his problems with the city and how he sees the way the city works as a popularity contest revolving around parties bringing in claustrophobic themes into some of his songs.
During his interview with Street Life DXB Xan stated:
“The UAE music ecosystem is missing culture. Personally, I don’t believe Sole DXB is enough for urban culture; if there are other events they go under the radar and I have no clue what is going on. It needs a spark from young kids that can pass the torch to others when they leave.”
After listening to some of his music there’s definitely no doubt that Xan the Kid is probably one of the most talented young artists coming out of Dubai right now and that his music will only continue to get better as he develops.
