2nd December Street, previously known as Al Diyafa, is a cultural melting pot. It is the border between old and new Dubai, hosts some of Dubai’s heritage restaurants and recently became a Street Art Metropolis. Packed with life, art, sports, and food, this tour will entertain and educate.
We will start at Diyafa Park and walk towards the Etihad Museum at the base of the street. In its premises lays Union House where the federation documents of the Emirates were signed in 1971. In 2016, to celebrate the 45th birthday of the UAE, the government adopted the streets name from Diyafa to 2nd December Street and along its building walls commissioned both international and local Street Artists to paint huge murals depicting Emirati heritage and identity. Let’s explore.
Little Game: Identify 16 Street Art Murals along the way. Tip, look on both sides of the road.
